Covid Restrictions for live classes
We are now running classes in selected venues. There are no classes until Mon 10th January 2022 while we take our Christmas break. Classes will be available for online booking from early Jan, and we strongly recommend you book and pay in advance to guarantee your place, as social distancing regulations require us to limit class sizes. If we have to delay the start of classes due to the current Covid situation, we will let you know here - please keep checking the website.
We work with the same protocols as gyms and leisure centres, but are affected by the local regulations imposed by the venues we use.
If you are thinking of attending any of these classes, we would prefer it if you book and pay in advance, and there are currently no refunds for non-attendance. We also would appreciate it if attendees would follow a few simple rules (see below).
There are no restrictions on how many people can take part in sport and physical activity, or on the activities they can do. Sport participation events such as races and walks can take place with no capacity caps for participants or spectators provided they can be safely accommodated.
However, there are some steps you should take to reduce the risk of transmission when you are participating.
Before attending any sporting activities, all participants, officials, volunteers and spectators should self-assess for symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19). These are:
- a high temperature
- a new, continuous cough
- a loss of, or change to, your sense of smell or taste
If you have one or more of these symptoms you should not attend any sporting activity, even if your symptoms are mild.
For a full description of the government's guidance click here.
Please do not attend class if you have had a positive Covid-19 test and are in the self-isolation period or are self-isolating due to close contact with someone who has had a positive test. You should not attend class if you have any of the Covid-19 symptoms listed under current government guidance. It is your responsibility to check government guidance if you have any concerns.
In fact, if you feel at all unwell, including having symptoms of a common cold such as shivers, sore throat or sneezing, please do not attend.
There are strict number limits based in Covid-19 Safe social distancing for each venue, so please ensure you have booked and paid in advance for each class you want to attend. We will retain your current email address and phone number on the register because it is a requirement for Test and Trace to work, if it becomes necessary for us to pass on your details.
NEW REGISTRATION/WAIVER FORM
In order to comply with current government guidance for exercise classes we require you to fill in a new form which includes additional information. It should be printed and completed before returning to us at your first class attendance, or by email if you are able to complete it electronically.
Please bring your own water bottle to class as we will not be using any kitchen facilities.
Please wear your face covering when queuing or entering/leaving class and keep it with you at all times. You should not wear your face mask while exercising, but if you need to leave your allocated space during a class, for any reason, you should put your mask on to move through the space. You may wear a clear plastic face shield if you choose to do so.
ARRIVAL AND QUEUING
Please try to avoid arriving into the building early. We will be preparing the facilities ready for the start and participants from earlier classes may be leaving. Please wait outside the hall or in the entrance way if appropriate and put your mask on once you have entered the building. Maintain correct social distancing during this waiting time. The instructor will call you into the hall. You will be allocated a space in the hall, the centre of each space will be marked with a disk. Do not enter a class that is in progress unless you are unavoidably late and you have booked a place. If so, a marked space will be available for you near the entry door.
Please use the toilet before coming to class in order to minimise usage of the hall facilities. Observe venue notices - often only one toilet will be in use. Please sanitise/wash your hands, both before and after use to keep door handles clean for other users.
As we will need to have queuing in place and adequate fresh air ventilation requirements, which will include open windows and fire doors in all weathers during classes and workshops, please dress appropriately and in layers. Halls will be much cooler than normal this autumn and winter due to the fresh air ventilation requirements.
If possible please leave belongings at home or in your car and don’t bring valuables into class. There will be space for belongings and water bottles on the floor at either side of the hall nearest to your allocated space. If you don’t want to put your coat or other clothes on the hall floor, please bring a bag to put them in and we recommend that you do this. Please remember to allow 2m socially distanced space when you are placing or accessing belongings and if you need to leave your allocated exercise space for any reason. We will not be putting out chairs for belongings as we have been asked to minimise chair usage, due to additional sanitisation cleaning.
If you would like to do the class seated, might need to do a section of the class seated, or need a chair to assist with balance, please let us know before class as each venue has a policy regarding chair cleaning and storage for each group.
We will keep a register of attendees at each class in case we are contacted by Test and Trace and need to pass on details.
Please use the hand sanitiser provided (or your own) on entering and leaving class.
Please maintain the social distance set out during your class and 2m at all times in the venue.
SYMPTOMS DURING CLASS
If you begin to feel ill during class, please ensure that you tell your instructor immediately.
Each venue will have an entry-exit strategy in place, in order to avoid passing people who may be waiting for the next class. You will be informed at each class of what the procedure is.
SYMPTOMS AFTER A CLASS
If you develop Covid-19 symptoms at any time, you should go for a test. If you test Positive for Covid-19, you will be notified and then you will be asked by Test and Trace for details of your ‘close contacts.’ The interview is detailed, to ascertain who needs to be contacted by the Test and Trace system. If you had attended a class with us, that was within the timeframe specified in the Test and Trace interview, you will be asked to report details about your class. You should give Test and Trace the contact details below, for Longwater Tai Chi, with the date, time and location of the class you attended with us. We can then act appropriately and pass on relevant information, when Test and Trace contact us.
Thank you for your help in trying to keep us all safe. We hope you enjoy returning to classes with us.
