5 Seasons Qigong Winter - Downton

5 Seasons Qigong Winter - Downton

Live and practise qigong in harmony with the seasons

winter qigong

A day workshop in Downton on Saturday 18th January with optional 'Sink-in Sunday' on January 19th to help consollidate the teaching of the previous day (Sunday attendees need to have come to the Saturday session).

  • The benefits of these workshops apply to beginners and seasoned practitioners alike. If you are experienced in one of the exercises we are teaching, you will have the added benefit, with our guidance, of being able to delve more deeply into its components. Each session will also to allow you to integrate the seasonal theme into your daily practice, using whatever Tai Chi or Qigong form or exercise routine you may know - irrespective of its origin.

Please contact us by email if you would still like to come and we may be able to accept you if we can rearrange venues.

Winter Calm and Storing

There is a calmness and stillness deep inside all of us. The element Water predominates in this most yin of seasons and the associated organs are the kidneys, our source of vitality. The sense of hearing is closely related to the kidneys and in the stillness of winter we can further cultivate our listening skills, which require focus and concentration to derive meaning.

Winter practices do not over exert the body or mind. Now is the time to give yourself permission to allow your body and mind to settle and rest. We move smoothly and meditatively in harmony with the quiet of this season. The steady, slow movements of Qigong at this time are ideal for settling, integrating and nourishing your energy.

In this workshop, we will be paying particular attention to the quality of Stillness and how we can use it to support Storing. We will teach ear and kidney qigong exercises along with some of the Neigong practices of Opening the Energy Gates of the Body.

Suitable for all, including beginners.

Main Workshop

Sat (10am to 4.30pm) / Sun (10am to 1pm). Cost £70 for both days / £35 for the Sat Morning session only.

5 Seasons 'Sink-in Sundays'

On Sunday we offer an in-depth workshop where you can deepen your study, as well as review and practice what we learn on the Saturday - see details. You do not have to attend this session but it is included in the price.
