5 Section Taijiquan

The Five Section Taijiquan program material is designed to be flexible and fun, ideal for beginners to get a well grounded introduction to traditional Tai Chi, who may then decide to take on the more difficult challenges of the full curriculum. Some knowledge of these forms is required to attend.

This session will focus on Q&A and corrections for any of the hand forms you may have studied with us.

Modified Wu 64 Tai Chi

Developed by our teacher Brian Cooper, the Modified 64 takes about 12-15 minutes to perform and is quite compact so can be practised even in restricted spaces. As you progress through the movements you will get a full workout that will upgrade your body, mind and spirit, as nothing is missed from the tradional long form except repeated movements.

This session is only available to students who have studied the form and wish to revise and practice the movements.

Dragon and Tiger Qigong

Dragon and Tiger is a 1500 year old form of health qigong, primarily used as a form of self-healing, or preventative exercise. It is also one of the best methods for learning how to feel your energy body.

This session is only available to students who have studied the form and wish to revise and practice the movements. Led by Jane Launchbury.

Tai Chi Qigong Shibashi

Shibashi Tai Chi Qigong is practised around the world by over 10 million people. It is based on some of the movements from Yang style tai chi chuan and this gentle, flowing qigong exercise set is deeply relaxing and pleasant to perform. It was developed in 1979 by Professor Lin Hou-Sheng and is designed to improve the health and wellbeing of the practitioner. The gentle rocking and stretching movements improve circulation, digestion and balance. The controlled breathing and chest exercises are good for lung conditions and the general holistic effect of the set is to reduce stress and tension.

This session is open to all - we will be looking in depth at a few of the movements.
